With little fuss and fanfare it seems that the Municipality of Oslo has decided that 50% of its available down-town public parking should get a charging station. Oslo already has about 400 stations in place and as can be seen on the picture above they are quite crowded. This expansion means there will be 380 more to join them within 2014.
The bill that makes this happen is sponsored by the Labour Party (Arbeiderpartiet) Socialist Left Party (SV) The Norwegian Liberal Party (Venstre) and Red (Rødt) and it states:
Within 2014, 50 % of all the public street-parking in down-town Oslo should become chargingstations for EV´s and plugin-hybrids

It is wonderful that Oslo is building out their street level charging. In Kristiansand in the south of Norway we have exactly zero charging points freely available 24 hours a day. Money will soon be available to fund work place charging and fast charging points, but nothing for the average user on a shopping trip to town.
