A prototype of what will become Sweden's first serial produced electric car was shown today in Nödinge, where 100 cars will be produced this year, followed by 300 cars in 2010. The companies behind the project are Fiat, Alelion Batteries and Autoadapt AB. Alelion is developing the Lithium ion batteries, while Autoadapt usually rebuild existing cars for disabled people.
The car is a converted Fiat 500, a popular model which was selected as the European car of the year 2008. Fiat delivers the car excluding combustion related parts such as the engine, exhaust system and fuel tank.
Alelion and Autoadapt will mount EV related parts such as the Lithium ion batteries, engine and drivetrain.
There are more models to come after the Fiat 500, such as Panda, Grande and Punto.
The battery options cover ranges of 100 km, 150 km and 200 km and the batteries should hold for 22000 charge cycles. The batteries will also withstand the cold Swedish climate.
